This morning, Tuesday 28 September, the Basketball Club Gran Canaria team visited the Poema del Mar facilities to present the continuity of its sponsorship.

Thus, the aquarium, inaugurated in 2017 and one of the most spectacular in the world, reinforces its commitment to sport, through which it promotes leisure, culture and healthy living on the island of Gran Canaria, and confirms that it will continue to be part of the family of this historic club.

The players were given a guided tour by Christoph Kiessling, vice-president of the Loro Parque Company. During the tour, Kiessling explained the great work that Poema del Mar does on a daily basis to become a reference centre for the conservation of species.

In fact, many of the species housed in its facilities are on the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and are under some degree of vulnerability or endangered in the natural environment.

In this sense, Poema del Mar also carries out important educational work by organising activities for schools in Gran Canaria, as well as for families and different social groups, in order to make them aware of the important work carried out by these centres in the archipelago, just as the Aquarium does through its conservation tool, the Loro Parque Fundación, thanks to which it has become a reference in the field of marine science in the islands.
